There are two types of cable fittings

FE Fixed Ends are non-adjustable end termination fittings that have no tensioning capabilities. Therefore, each Fixed End must be paired with a Tension Adjustment Fitting.

TAF Tension Adjustment Fittings include Threaded Terminals, Turnbuckles and Adjusters that are used to tighten the cable lines. Tension is adjusted by tightening the nuts on the Threaded Terminal fittings, spinning the tubular bodies on the Turnbuckles or rotating the bolt on the Adjusters. Every cable assembly must have at least one Tension Adjustment Fitting.

Please note that CableRail custom cables, fittings and assemblies should never be used for lifting, hanging or other high-load applications.

Fittings can be attached to the cable either at the factory or in the field.

M Machine Swaging ()
Machine swage fittings are attached to the cable at our factory using a hydraulic cold forming press. The finished swaged area has a smooth, hexagonal shape. Machine swaged assemblies are fabricated to your exact lengths and ship ready for installation.
C CableCrimp™ Hand Swaging
CableCrimp™ style fittings are attached by the customer in the field with a hand crimp tool (part #3742, sold separately). The finished swage shaft shows multiple crimp marks. This crimping method has less strength than a machine swage. Most 1/8" and 3/16" cable fittings are available in CableCrimp™ styles.

QC Quick-Connect® Technology
QC Swageless Fittings allow for field installation without the need of special crimping tools. The patented Quick-Connect® one-way jaws lock on to the cable making for strong, labor-saving, efficient cable connections. Simply cut the cable to length, insert it into the Quick-Connect® fitting, and the one-way jaws automatically lock-on.

Sleekline Series Turnbuckles

The Sleekline Series Turnbuckles have a swage sleeve hidden inside the body allowing a shorter turnbuckle design with clean lines and no exposed threads or swaged ends. Sleekline turnbuckles are best suited for attaching to the cable in the field using the CableCrimp™ style fittings and a CableCrimp™ Crimper tool. See Sleekline_Install.pdf for instructions to assemble the Sleekline series of fittings.
